How to update a place

Your job is to find places on Google Maps and update their data — this can include adding a website, phone number, photos, or creating a new listing. Each task takes about 2–3 minutes.

Review the place details
You'll see a card with the place name, type, GPS coordinates, address, a URL to add, phone (if applicable), and photos (if available). Read everything carefully — you'll need these details to find the right place on Google Maps.

Open Google Maps and find the place
Step A: Tap "Copy" next to the place name to copy it to your clipboard.

Step B: Tap "Open in App" next to the GPS coordinates. This opens Google Maps at the exact location of the place.

Step C: In Google Maps, search for the place by pasting its name. Look around the map — the place should be nearby.

If you can't find it by name, try searching for the address instead — it can be more reliable in some cases.

Check if the place already exists
Once you're on Google Maps, determine whether the place already has a listing or needs to be created. Check that the name, location, and type match. Don't rush this step — a wrong match causes problems later.

Update or create the place
If the place already exists on Google Maps:
Check if it has a website. If the website is missing, add the provided URL and upload 1 photo. To do this: tap the place → "Suggest an edit" → "Change name or other details" → paste the URL into the Website field → Submit. Then add a photo: choose the most illustrative photo from those provided in the app, download it to your device, and upload it through Google Maps via the place's photo section.

If the place does NOT exist on Google Maps:
You need to add it. In Google Maps: tap and hold on the correct location → "Add a missing place". Fill in the name, type (category), and verify the address suggested by Google. Then tap "Add more details" to expand additional fields — paste the provided URL into the website field, and upload 1 photo (choose the most illustrative one from those provided in the app and download it to your device first). Then submit.
💡 The place name should be short, descriptive, and free of excessive symbols or numbering. Use the "AI Cleanup" button if the name looks messy — it will simplify it for you. Use the "Edit" button to fix the name manually.

Tell us what you did
Go back to the app and tap "Continue". Confirm the place name, then choose what happened:

Added new place — You created a new listing on Google Maps. Enter the name as listed on Google Maps and the website URL of the place.
💡 Use the "Paste" buttons to save time — they paste directly from your clipboard.
Place already exists — It was already on Google Maps. Enter the name as listed on Google Maps. If it had a website, tap "Yes" and paste the URL. If not, add the provided URL and confirm.

Duplicate — You've seen this place before or it's a duplicate entry.

Wrong location — The GPS or address is wrong, or you're not sure about the place's location.

Other — Something else happened. Leave a short comment.

Submit and move on
Tap "Confirm" to save. The app moves to the next place automatically. If you're unsure about a place, tap "Skip" — there's no penalty for skipping.
💡 Good to know
  • You have a daily limit based on your accuracy. Work carefully to increase it.
  • Always double-check you're updating the correct place before submitting.
  • If the place name has typos or extra words, clean it up before confirming.
